Johnny Manziel’s activities outside of football continue to overshadow his career, as he was recently involved in yet another incident with the police.
This appears to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, as the Cleveland Browns are rumored to release Manziel in March. Why March?
Well, the Browns could release Johnny boy the day after the Super Bowl when the season ends, but they don’t have the cap space to do so. March 9th is the first day of the upcoming NFL year, in which the Browns will have more cap space and can say good bye to the troubled talent for good.
Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys has had his eye on Johnny for some time and there is talk of Manziel playing for “America’s team”. That would lead to further personal disaster for Johnny Football, as the pressure and spotlight in football-crazed Texas could promote some of his, let’s say, counterproductive tendencies.
Football is not what this poor kid needs right now. He doesn’t need some nasty old man telling him what he wants to hear. What he needs is some privacy, time, and support from his family and people he can trust.
